What a post-industrial resin is
It is resin made from material recovered during manufacturing, before it reaches the consumer, that would otherwise end up as waste. Post-consumer material, on the other hand, is recovered after someone has already used the product.

These are general industry facts, not specifications of an Armovac product.
Our resins
We carry three polyethylene families. We help you choose based on your process and your product.
High density (HDPE)
For extrusion and high molecular weight. For products that require strength and durability, such as industrial containers, storage tanks and pipes.
Low density (LDPE and LLDPE)
Low fractional LDPE and LLDPE. For packaging that protects and preserves your products, from food to electronics.
Linear
With butene, hexene, octene or metallocene. For stretch film, fibers and automotive components.
Low and high density polyethylene
The two main polyethylene families in film and flexible packaging, side by side.
| Property | Low densityLDPE and LLDPE | High densityHDPE |
|---|---|---|
| Density | 0.917 to 0.930 g/cm³ | 0.944 to 0.965 g/cm³ |
| In film | Thicker, heavy-duty film, such as long-lasting bags and sacks. | Most thin carryout bags and produce bags. |
| Other uses | Squeeze bottles, bags, heavy-duty sacks, general packaging and gas and water pipes. | Chemical drums and jugs, household goods, cable insulation and food wraps. |
Melt flow index
The melt flow index measures how fast a molten resin flows through standardized test equipment. It is a common quality control test and shows whether flow stays consistent from one batch to the next.
It is not a fundamental property of the polymer and does not always predict how it will behave in your process, so it is best to test the resin on your equipment. Tell us what you make and we help you choose.

Frequently asked questions
The basics of our resins and how to get a quote.
What is a post-industrial resin?
It is resin made from material recovered during manufacturing, before it reaches the consumer, that would otherwise end up as waste. Post-consumer material is recovered after someone has already used the product.
What is the difference between high and low density?
High density (HDPE) ranges from 0.944 to 0.965 g/cm³ and is used, for example, in thin carryout bags, drums and jugs. Low density (LDPE) ranges from 0.917 to 0.930 g/cm³ and is used in heavy-duty film, sacks and general packaging.
What is the melt flow index?
It is a test that measures how fast a molten resin flows through standardized equipment. It is used to check that flow is consistent from one batch to the next, but it does not always predict how the resin behaves in your process.
What resins do you carry?
High density (HDPE) for extrusion and high molecular weight; low fractional low density (LDPE and LLDPE); and linear with butene, hexene, octene or metallocene.
